Toddler Program
Everbloom Montessori offers a toddler Montessori program in Grand Rapids designed for children ages 1 to 3 years old. During this stage of rapid development, toddlers are building independence, language, movement, and social awareness.
Our Montessori toddler program provides a calm, structured environment where children learn through hands-on exploration guided by trained Montessori educators.
We offer two toddler classroom levels to support developmental readiness:
Young Toddlers (ages 1–2)
Older Toddlers (ages 2–3)
Each classroom is designed to meet children where they are developmentally, while supporting growth toward independence and confidence.
The toddler years are a period of intense curiosity and emerging independence. Montessori education supports this natural development by giving children structured freedom within a carefully prepared environment.
In our toddler Montessori classrooms, children learn through purposeful activity that encourages:
independence and self-care
language development
coordination and movement
concentration and focus
early social interaction and cooperation
Montessori guides observe each child closely and introduce materials that match their developmental stage, allowing toddlers to progress at their own pace.
Young Toddlers - Ages 1-2
Our Young Toddler classroom supports children as they transition from infancy into early independence. At this stage, children are developing mobility, early language, and a growing awareness of their environment.
Young toddlers are supported through:
movement and sensory exploration
early communication and vocabulary growth
consistent routines that build security
gentle introduction to independent work
respectful caregiving relationships
The classroom environment helps children feel safe while encouraging curiosity and exploration.
Older Toddlers - Ages 2-3
As toddlers grow, their desire for independence increases. The Older Toddler classroom focuses on expanding practical life skills, social development, and concentration.
Older toddlers practice:
self-care routines and responsibility
early problem-solving skills
cooperative interaction with peers
language expansion and communication
sustained focus through purposeful activity
These experiences prepare children for the transition into Children’s House and future preschool learning.
Low Ratios for Individualized Attention
Everbloom Montessori maintains a 1:4 teacher-to-child ratio in our toddler classrooms. This low ratio allows educators to provide individualized support, careful observation, and meaningful interaction while maintaining a calm and responsive learning environment.
Small group sizes help toddlers feel secure while receiving the guidance they need during this important stage of development.
