Infant Program

Everbloom Montessori offers an infant Montessori program in Grand Rapids designed for babies ages 3 to 12 months. Our program supports early development through a calm, nurturing environment that encourages movement, sensory exploration, and secure relationships during the earliest stage of learning.

Rooted in authentic Montessori principles, our infant classrooms provide individualized care while supporting independence, trust, and whole-child development.

A Montessori Approach to Infant Care

Montessori education begins at birth. In our infant program, caregivers create a prepared environment that allows babies to explore safely, develop motor skills, and build early independence at their own pace.

Our infant classrooms are designed to support:

  • freedom of movement

  • sensory exploration

  • language development through interaction

  • consistent routines that build security

  • respectful caregiving and observation

Rather than overstimulation, infants experience calm, predictable environments that encourage natural curiosity and development.

Supporting Early Development

The first year of life is a critical period for brain development and emotional growth. Our Montessori infant program focuses on supporting the whole child through responsive care and intentional learning experiences.

Infants at Everbloom Montessori develop:

  • gross and fine motor skills

  • early communication and language awareness

  • social connection and trust

  • concentration through focused exploration

  • confidence in their environment

Each child’s developmental timeline is respected and supported by trained Montessori educators.

Infant Prepared Environment

Our infant classrooms are carefully designed to promote safety, comfort, and exploration. Child-sized materials, natural movement spaces, and thoughtful organization allow infants to engage with their surroundings in meaningful ways.

Key features include:

  • no containers (highchairs, bouncy seat, swings, exersaucers) to foster more independence, support of brain development through movement

  • soft movement areas for rolling and crawling

  • developmentally appropriate Montessori materials

  • calm lighting and organized spaces

  • consistent caregiving routines

This environment helps infants build independence while feeling secure and supported.

Partnership with Families

At Everbloom Montessori, we view families as essential partners in early childhood education. Communication between caregivers and families helps ensure continuity between home and school, supporting each child’s development during this important stage.

We work closely with parents to understand each infant’s needs, routines, and developmental milestones.

Low Ratios for Individualized Attention

Everbloom Montessori maintains a 1:3 teacher-to-child ratio in our infant classrooms. This low ratio allows educators to provide individualized support, careful observation, and meaningful interaction while maintaining a calm and responsive learning environment.

Small group sizes help infants feel secure while receiving the guidance they need during this important stage of development.
